THE FITZROY CLUB. In presenting the eighth annual report of the Fiizroy, Bowling Club at the annual meeting 'on Wednesday Mr \V. Ilealv President, congratulated the members oil the position of the elub. Although its membership was not large, it had, thanks to the generous support of members, been able; to finish the vear with a small credit balance. This: 'year there was every prospect of an increased membership, eight new members would be proposed that evening, and a number of others would join as s.m.ii as the green was lit for play. It had been well looked after, and should be in playing order, weather permitting, by the end of this month. The Taranaki Bowling Tournament would be held at New Plymouth next February, and the Fitzroy Club, in conjunction with the Xew Plymouth and West Fnd Clubs, would work together in order to ensure it being carried out successfully. During the season 10 interclub matches were played, and the club won 13 of these. At (he Provincial Tournament the club secured second place. The spirit of troodfellowship anion" members had been very marked, and bad tended in no small degree to make the club popular. The secretary (Mr W Whitehead) had carried out' his duties in an admirable manner, and the club's present financial position was due to a large extent to his energy. Concluding the president remarked that he felt sure that the coming season was go in" to be the best and brightest the club had yet experienced. The balancc-Klieef, whieh was- adopted together with the report, disclose'] a highly satisfactory state of affairs The receipts had totalled £ll6 ] 4s 5d and there was a credit balance of £:j i« s o ( \ Eight new members were elected and three new ones proposed.
