Mr. Will Tliorne, in a presidential address at the Trades Union Congress at Newport, blamed the Government for defeating the transport workers. He declared that the coal strike had brought nationalisation nearer. The Scottish dockers' delegate asked the Congress to repudiate syndicalism, but was ruled out of order. THE FRENCH SHIPPING STRIKE. Paris, September 2. The arbitrators of the Marseilles shipping dispute decided that the Messageries Company are not obliged to increase reservists' wages. TAXI-CAB STRIKE. Adelaide, September 3. A limited taxi-cab service is running, but there is a probability of the dispute spreading.
