Mr. Roosevelt, in a letter to the chairman of the committee investigating campaign contributions, stated that Senator Penrose's statement with regard to Arclibold's support was an unqualified falsehood. .Senator Penrose was merely comparable to a graft policeman and ought to be removed from the Senate.
