THE EGMONT SEAT.
MR. WILKINSON AT OPUNAKE. An attendance of fully 200 assembled at Opunake on Monday evening to hear a political address by Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, the Government candidate. Mr. W. C. Dudley, chairman of the Town Board, presided. Mr. Wilkinson was given a splendid hearing, and (his address was received with frequent applause. The candidate, however, expressed regret that he was not in good fighting form, and hoped to do better during the remainder of his campaign. ■ After questions had been dealt with; a lieart # v vote of tfmnks to, and of confidence in, Mr. Wilkinson was moved by Mr. Cona-glen, seconded by Mr P Wes Forges. A vote of thanks onlv was moved -by Mr. I?. O'Dea, seconded fey Mr. Robertson. About six voted 'for the amendment, whilst a_ forest of hands went up for the motion of thanks and confidence, which was carried. Over forty remained to the ensuing committee meeting. With the member! previously enrolled, and including' a ladies section, the committee numbers fully sixty.—(Suplied.)
