PLUMBERS' CERTIFICATES. By Telegraph —Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A/deputation of master plumbers placed before the Premier and the Minister for Public Health the results of the conference held this "week, specially urging the passing of the "Dominion Registration Bill, provided the licenses are available all over New Zealand. Mr. Massey said that a Government Bill would be introduced in a few days and referred to the Labor Bills Committee. It would include a clause providing for Dominion certificates. HOME INDUSTRIES ENCOURAGED. • Dunedin, Friday. The Minister of Mines informs the Boilermakers' Union that in future any machinery and ironwork which can be suitably manufactured ill the Dominion is to be obtained here, and not imported. Justice Sim in a local will case to-day was that the benefits accruing to a deceased person's estate from a Friendly Society are not available for the payment of the debts of deceased persons, but are available for funeral and testamentary expenses. In tlie cases of the Taupo Totara Timber Company v. the Commissioner of Taxes, and the Kauri Timber Company v. the Commissioner of Taxes, the Court of Appeal to-day granted final leave to appeal to the Privy Council. The Court intimated that reserved judgments would not be delivered until next sittings, commencing on September 30. A TRAIN DERAILED. Gisborne, Yesterday. As the train from Gisborne was en- | tering Otoko station yards this morning the engine and four trucks left the rails. The engine was damaged, but no one was hurt. ! A LIBEL ACTION. Christchurch, Yesterday, j The libel action in which L. H. I Booth claimed £250 from the Triad was 1 settled out. of court. The Triad severely criticised the Hanging Committee of the Art Society in connection with the re- [ exhibition, and asserted that a section of this committee, •Hjliich waa elected this year, was biassed. The defendant retracts the imputation of bias, admits that the article was based on erroneous information, and pays 100 guineas costs.
