The Standard says that acrimony and party strife partly account for the American denunciation of President Taft's extraordinary essay in hair-splitting, but underneath such criticisms we may reasonably suspect an uneasy conviction that the country is being let in for an extremely inconvenient dispute, wherein its opponent holds all the strong cards.
