EMPIRE PICTURES. As was only to be expected, the Empire Theatre was again filled to overflowing last evening, when the current programme was repeated. A powerful and thrilling drama dealing with the old story of love and passion is "A Mexican Uuvtship." A lass, who, by the way, has a secret lover (a Mexican), is freed by her parents to bestow her attentions on a famous bull lighter who has lately arrived in the village. In spite at the girl's protestations she has eventually to yield to this unwelcome request, much against her wish, and at the bull-fighter's invitation proceeds to the arena, accompanied by her parents, to witness lus boasted prowess. Here Rome sensational bull-fighting is intro. duced, but not by the over-zealous bulllighter. 1!,., is intoxicated, and her Mexican lover volunteers to Jill hi 9 nl aC e. With a cool air lie enters the ring and hw skilful handling of the wild beasts ns they make towards him proves him to be an expert in his assumed profession, lhe girls parents are so delighted with the courageous young Mexican that they hestow tlßnr (laughter's hand upon him\ whilst the would-be bull-fighter leaves to take up his occupation elsewhere. Tha star picture, "Shanms O'liri'en," nn- ; ,i„ came m for well deserved enthusiasm. .1.00 much cannot be said of this soulstirring drama, and those who have not already seen it should avail themselves of the opportunity to-night, as this is absolutely the last time it will he shown here. The supporting part of the .profrramrno was, as usual, up to the standard.
