RAHOTU DAIRY FACTORY.

ANNUAL REPORT. The fallowing annual report for the year ending June 30 -will be presented to the shareholders' meeting on Friday. After remarking that the results of the season's business have been very satisfactory, the report states that the amount to credit of profit and loss account on closing the. books was £1773 ■ 17s 6d, and out of this the directors had appropriated £302 la 6d for depreeiation of buildings and plant, and it was proposed to make a further payment of 1 l-3d over the whole of the butter-fat supplied during the year, which -would absorb £1338 5s Id, and to pay interest at the rate of 5 per cent, per annum on all fully-paid shares, which would absorb £73 4s 4d, leaving a balance of £6O 6s 7d to be carried to next year's account, or to be otherwise dealt with. The total payment for butterfat for the year would amount to 14.01 d per lb, in addition to payment of interest on sliares, and this the directors considered very gratifying. During the year a whey-butter plant had been installed, and whey butter made during the cheese season. As the milk was then in small supply, the quantity of butter made was not large, and the net result, spread over the whole of the butter-fat supplied during the year, was only .07 of a penny per lb. The directors considered that a good return for the expenditure, and anticipated that the manufacture of whey butter through the whole season in future would materially increase the return'to suppliers, ft would be necessary to elect three directors in place of Messrs A. F. Chapman. C. Sole and W. C. Green, who retired in accordance with the articles of association. An auditor was also required, Mr. McKellar again offering his services. The y 4 d per lb of butter-fat subscribed by agreement as additional share capital resulted in the allotment of 262 shares, which were now practically fully paid, and in order to obtain the opinion of shareholders as to the advisability of a permanent charge in respect to capital subscription, Mr. T. Willcox has given notice to move as a special resolution, "That articles 4 and 5 of the Company's articles of association be amended by the substitution of 1121bs for 1701bs wherever the latter appears." : The chairman (Mr. A. F. Chapman) has given notice to move that a receiving depot for groceries, etc., be established at the factory for the benefit of sup- ' pliers. The following statistics are also supplied:—Milk received, 6,572,6691b5; [ butter-fat (cheese 212,08311)8, butter 27,9031b), 240,8861b5; average test, 3.67; cheese made, factory weights (less 2% [per cent.), 568,419 tons; butter made from starter and whey, 37561b5; weight of cheese per lb of butter-fat, factory weight ••(■less. 2% per cent.), 2.6541b5; average- price received per lb of cheese, factory weight (less 2% per cent.), 6.356 d. per.lb.
