A TRAP FATALITY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Blenheim, Last Night. A fatal accident occurred this afternoon on the New Rcnwick road Miss Kathleen Litchfield, aged twenty, and her sister, Mrs. J. K. Hardin, were put driving," when the horse fell, throwing the occupants out. Mrs. Hardin fell clear, but Miss Litchfield was thrown between the trap and the horse, and fell on her head and fractured the base of her skull. When picked up life was .extinct. A SUICIDE. Wellington, Last Night. At 7.45 a.m. to-day James O'Brien, of Kaiwarra, found the dead body of Percy Thomas Yiwrell in a whare" alongside Mrs. Flux's boarding-house at Kaiwarra. Deceased is believed to have committed suicide, for his throat was cut and a blood-stained razor was lying on the floor beside him. Yarrell, who was last seen alive at 5.45 last evening, was a surfaceman employr-d by the Railway Department, and although of steady "habits he had seemed depressed of late. He was thirty-three years of age. There is ove,£2OO in the Post Office Savings Bank to his credit. DEATH FROMnHEART FAILURE. Wellington, Last Night. This afternoon the body of an old man named Nicholas Grey was found in his room at No. 68, Dixon street. Deceased had apparently been dead for some time. Death was probably due to heart disease. DEATH FROM CORROSIVE TABLETS. :." • r Palmerston N.. Last Night. "' The well-known Palmerston North land agent Charles Sutcliffe, aged 35 years, is supposed to have committed suicide this morning. He left his home between 8 and 9 o'clock this morning, and. at 11.30 a.m. he returned home in a cab.. He complained to his wife that he was ill, and the doctor was called in. It Was ascertained that he had taken corrosive sublimate tablets, and in spite of medical efforts he died at 1.30 p.m. Deceased for some time was a farmer in the Pohangina district. He leaves a Wife-and'one child. An inquest will be held to-morrow. Some weeks ago deceased injured his leg badly by jumping off; a train, and he was still lame from the accident.
