VICTORIA v. NEW SOUTH WALES. By Telegraph.— Press Association. Melbourne, August 27. At tho Rugby Union game, NewSouth Wales defeated Victoria by 10 points to 8. THE OTAUO TEAM. CHARGES 'DISMISSED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. The inquiry was concluded by the Otago Rugby Union to-night concerning the charges made against the Otago footballer* who visited Inveicargill recently. After a lengthy discussion, it was decided that as the players absolutely denied complicity in regard to the damage done in the hotel, aiid as there was no evidence to prove that the damage was done by members of the team, the I committee take no further action. iThe chairman expressed the opinion that jif the whole team were disqualified the name of the culprit would be divulged in two minutes. In regard to the allegation that bad language was used, 'ha i committee decided that no evidence was I adduced to substantiate the charge. LEAGUE v. AMATEUR. Christchurch, Last Night. A special meeting of club delesates called by the Canterbury Rugby Union was held to-night to consider the encroachment of League football in f.'-hret-church. The meeting declared its lovaltv to the amateur game, and also threw out a resolution favoring the payment, of players for time lost. The meeting also adopted a resolution favoring the reinstatement nf disqualified players who had only participated in League practice «anips. Tt also decided to seek permission from the English Union to alter the local rules to improve the game.
