Mr. Robert Lee was yesterday reelected chairman of the Wellington" Education. Board. Mr. John Jones, of Stratford, has been appointed secretary to the New Plymouth Gas Company, vice Mr. C. k. Rennell, resigned. Miss P. Smith. 8.A., has been placed in temporary charge of the New Plymouth technical day classes pending the appointment of a successor to Mr. T. ( Heatley, resigned. Mr. Joseph F. Fabian, an old resident in this district, who was at one time, in the employ of the Government Life Insurance Department, passed away at New Plymouth yesterday morning i\\ his 09th year. Reporting to the Education Board hist night., the chairman (Mr. 11. Trimble) deeply regretted the death of Miss AleDerinid, the late assistant at the Frankley school. Miss McDermid, he remarked, continued her duties up to a few days before her death. The following .resignations have been accepted hy the Taranaki Education Board:—Miss U. Julian, sole teacher, Kina; Alias C. Wylie, sole teacher, L'ruti; Miss E. Knox, assistant, Norfolk road; Aliss (i. Mi-Arthur, head teacher, Oaonui; Mr. S. E. Gibson, probationer' Midhirst. The death is reported of Dr. P. J. Mussen. who came to New Zealand in the early fifties, and served throughout the second Maori war in the capacity of medical officer. He served under General Cameron and Colonel Whitmore, and was attached to the Forest Ranger*, under Major Von Tempsky. "• Air. 11. Trimble was last night reelected chairman of the Taranaki Education Board, ou the motion .of Mr. A. Morton, who paid a tribute to his ability and the way in which he had carried out his duties during the past twelve months. lie had earned the ,rc-spect-of all members, and had been exceedingly zealous and courteous in the fulfilment of his position. In seconding the motion, Mr. Kennedy said that Mr. Trimble was the right man in the right place. Mr. Trimble briefly returned thanks and regretted that through living so far out of town lie was not able to do all that he would like to.
