i i EMPIRE PICTURE PALACE. "SHAMUS O'BRrEX" TO-NIGHT. ! To-night at tho Empire Theatre the . great exclusive Irish drama, "Shamus o'J3rien," will be screened for the first "time. This is a story of the days when the host of Ireland's boys were "rebels." i and the bravest and hardiest lad of them ' all was Shamus O'lirien, of the town of Glengal. Of the manv Successful picture dramas issued by the .Irish (Company, their latest production, " Shamus O'Brien," certainly stands out in a profc nounced manner. 'The. story, as depicted { \n the well-known poem is delineated I with a fidelity to the original that is > really remarkable and leaves nothing to : be desired. Each scene contains a thrilling incident, and interest and excitement is continued, to the final scene. The poem is a favorite with Irishmen all over the world, because it erystalises a desire . that is deep down in the hearts of countless millions of Irishmen for the freeing of Ireland from official association with England; in other words, "Home Rule for Ireland." It is an Irish play produced 'hndfir Irish direction, and acted by Irish men and women, who all entered into the very marrow of the theme. Supporting this feature are many other fine productions. With respect to a special ,Ljibi,n drama to be 1 included, ..lMVmely, ".Mexican .fourlship," the Lnbhi Company rented an arena, procured a . special license, 'engaged two experienced l Matadors, and bought a bull especially for the great fight, which is" shown from the beginning until the bull is killed and dragged from the arena. An excellent love story is built,around tho bull fight, and intense interest is sustained throughout in a remarkably novel and thrilling manner. Two other prominent dramas ' are "The Military Air Scout" (Vitanraph) anil "A Poor Relation" (Selig). Instructive items include "The Life of the Honey Bee," "A Trip Through liunga'ry," and "Pottery Making in America." The usual selection of comedy hits go to make up a series that the management are confident will easily surpass anything that has previously .'been, shown in Xew j Plymouth.
