Messrs. Emery and Co., local agents for the L.M.C. machines (one of the best of modern motor cycles) have received cabled advice from Reading, England, that in a recent six days' reliability trial the L.M.C. gained, three gold and one bronze medals. The annual hall of the North Taranaki Hunt Club will be held in the Theatre lloyal on Thursday next, August 29, the arrangements lor which are being conducted on the same elaborate scale as those iheld in the past, and which have gained a well-earned reputation for the Hunt throughout the district. No stone will be left unturned to make the ball a success. The music will be supplied by Mrs. Woods' orchestra, and the catering is in the capable hands of Mr. Wooller. The theatre on this occasion is to be prettily decorated, the work being under the supervision of Mr. Harry Brooks. The ball, being held on the night of the Wellington-Taranaki football match, will undoubtedly give visitors a splendid opportunity of finishing the day's outing, and already a number of Hawera, Stratford, and Opunake residents have signified their intention of being present. Notwithstanding the delay in deliveries of goods from the Old Country caused by the recent dockers' strike, the Melbourne has, up to the present, been able to supply all demands for their famous shilling stockings. Stock in hand is getting very low, but next week a new shipment is due to arrive ex Turakina.
Amburys complete their annual stocktaking on the 30th inat. This week they have a window-full of oddments thrown out to be cleared at heaps less than half the usual price.
