LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, Friday. In the semi-final of the Napier ladies' golf championship, Miss Hamlin beat Miss Kettle, 3 up and 2 to play, and Miss Gorrie beat Miss Hindmarsh, 5 up and 4. The final is being played to-day over a 36-hole course. THE TARAHUA CLUB. Next week the qualifying rounds for the championship will be held. It lias been arranged that those returning the four best cards on Thursday and the four best on Saturday will qualify. Each four will play out till the Inst man, and the two remaining will play off on a day to ibe arranged. NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. To-day the second qualifying round for the club's championship will be played, and the medal handicap begun last Saturday will be completed. The winner of the championship or the runner-up cannot take either of the handicap prizes should he happen to win one of them. On Last Saturday's scores it is most difficult to say who will be in the eight to qualify, as several players who did not play up to form still have a good chance of making a recovery. Interest 'in to-day's play is therefore very keen. Next Thursday the ladies' chamiponship tournament begins at Nelson, and the only New Plymouth ladies to enter are Misses Bewley, Blundell and Glasgow. This year the men's championship is to be held on the Heretaunga links, and begins on Monday, September 16. So far as is at present known, Messrs. W. and A. liewiey are likely to be the rbhly' local competitors.
