BRITISH EMIGRATION
AUSTRALASIA FAVORED. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Received 23, 11.50 p.m. London, August 23. The emigration returns l show that 154,344 sailed during the first seven months of 1912 to Canada, while the emigration to Australia was largely increased. The feature is that practically no aliens go to Australasia, while a large number go to Canada. The newspaper Ottawa Citizen attributes the diversion of emigration to Australasia to the sternness of the struggle in Western Canada.
