SOUTH CANTERBURY (0) v. WEST COAST (5). By Telegraph.—Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. The West Coast touring team met the South Canterbury representative team on the Caledonian Ground. There was a large crowd of spectators. The first spell was played in dull weather, and the second in drizzling rain. Play was even in the first spell, but the home team scored a try, and in the second spell scored another try before the rain came on. The damp conditions seemed to suit the visitors better, and though tiring they showed to advantage. Lynch scored two tries for the home team, and Mclvor got a try for the Coast, which Wilson converted. The final score was: [South Canterbury 6, West Coast 5. ' MAORIS (11) t. MANIAPOTO (0). Te Kuiti, Last Night. The Taranaki Maori touring team defeated the. Maniapoto Rugby Union representatives to-day by 11 points to nil. HIGH SCHOOLS TOURNAMENT. PALMERSTON (12) v. NAPIER (0). Napier, Last Night. The Napier. Palnierston North and New Plymouth High Schools' football triangular contest began to-day with a match between Palmerston Nortji and Napier. The weather was fine, and there was a good attendance. The match was won by Palmerston by 12 points to ti. Tries were obtained for the winners by Swainson, Kerr (2), and Richardson, and for the losers by Howard and Dean, none being converted. The next match will be played on Saturday.

NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION. Wellington, Last Night. Tito management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union met to-night. It was decided that the South Auckland Union be written to for further particulars regarding the cases of Clarke and Berriman, who were suspended for playing under the League code. A request from South Auckland on behalf of the Hamilton Union for assistance in commencing an insurance fund was declined. Mr. C. Wray Palliser, the New Zealand Union's representative in England, forwarded the following letter which he had received from the secretary of the English Union: "In reference to the suggested visit from New Zealand, I beg to inform you that the South African team is coming over next season as joint guests of the four Home unions. My committee feel that it would be better to see how this system worked before making any pronouncement with regard to a visit from New Zealand. My committee have had a similar request to yours from New South Wales. Perhaps you would let me know whether in the event of a tour being arranged a combined team from New Zealand and Australia would be agreeable to your union."—lt waa decided to take no action in the matter until an official communication is received from the English Union. TARANAKI v. WELLINGTON. The team to play against Wellington, at New Plymouth next Thursday, will be selected from the following seventeen players:—Backs: Don Cameron, Franklin, Stohr, S. Cameron, Brown, Roberts, McLeod, and Bertrand; forwards, Taylor, Hawkins, Dewar, Cain, Burke, Jack Kissick, Smith, Young, and Whittington. The Wairarapa team will leave by this morning's train, playing against Manawatu on Saturday, Horowhenua at Levin on Wednesday, and Wellington at Wellington to-morrow week.
