WolfT, one of the crew declared that the captain was nol sober on the night of the wreck. a.nd that he had been drunk oil several occasions during the voyage from Buenos Ayres. The second mate gave evidence that he never saw the captain under the influence of drink. He never touched it at sea. He added that no cast was taken and the lead never used. He j claims that the benefit of grade, marking had been shown, since compulsory marking had forced the price of Australian ibuttcr in the London market so as to equal that of New Zealand butter and almost equal that of Danish. Miss Mary Proctor, speaking at a meeting given to welcome her by the Empire League, said her mission was to push the proposed solar observatory in Australia. The British Empire League was specially joined with the scientific i bodies in carrying out the project.
