London, August 20. Tom Pritchard, of The Ring, Blackfriars Road, has been remanded on a charge of feloniously receiving the Princess of Hesse's bag, recently stolen from Victoria Station. Israel Abrahams gave evidence that he saw two strangers sell Pritchard -the hag, but did plot notice the mark till Pritchard sent the bag to him to try and get an initial stamped over the' "M" which was already there. He then noticed that the crown had been scratched oil'. The errand was,fruitless and the bag was returned. Subsequently witness learned from the newspapers that the bag had been stolen, and informed Pritchard. The latter removed the bottles and then cut up and burned the bag. STORMS IN ENGLAND. '• London, August 20. Violent thunderstorms and cloudbursts in various parts of England have seriously affected the harvest. A number of. cattle grazing at Daventry and. Nantwich were killed. The damage to potato crops in two districts in Lincolnshire is estimated at £IOO,OOO. ; A CHINESE OUTRAGE. Hong Kong, August 20. Forty pirates commandeered a launch and looted the police station at Dumbell Island, taking a number of rifles and bayonets. They killed three Indian police, kidnapped a money-lender and escaped.
