JUVENILE DELINQUENCY.
To the Editor. Sir— I can assure you that neither yourself nor "Citizen" are the only persons holding the views expressed in your leader on "Juvenile Delinquency." Our system of education has never shown the results that the sponsors of it, who were simply using it as a political sop in a past generation, professed. The system has fallen far short of what was expected of it. How it lias stood as long as it has is a mystery to me. ]am a firm believer in true education, but only to those who cannot afford to pay "(and they are very few indeed), and I believe in compulsory education also for all classes, but why the country should be taxed and hampered by this incubus to give free education to the children of those who can well afford to pay is what surprises me. It is to be hoped that Mr. Massey will tackle this question while lie is in power. By your own showing our education system is a delusion, as it has not given the good results which was expected of it.—l am, etc., TAXPAYER.
