The Northern Boxing Association held a. successful carnival last night, when two professional and three amateur contests were fought. Results:— Bantam-weight (amateur): H. Gilchrist beat G. Brown on points. Light-weight (amateur); Gordon Menzies beat S. Whalley on points. Heavy-weight (amateur): C. Savoury beat J. Hales (counted out in the second round). Feather-weight (professional): JJ. Harris (South Africa) drew with Harry Johns (London), after a very close fight. Welter-weight (professional): George Olsen beat Bert Murphy. The latter retired in the seventh round.
