A private letter from Ihe United Stales says th.it the captain of the Californian has been dismissed and the captain of the Carpnthia covered villi honor-, besides being presented with £10.(100 in easli ;>nd several loving cups. He was also awarded a Congressional medal. This honor ii only given by Congress by special Act of Congress, and Captain Rostron is the seventh man in the history of America to receive the medal.
