DR. MORRISON'S APPOINTMENT. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright, STRONG OPPOSITION*. London, August 14. The Pekin correspondent of the Daily Telegraph states that a deputation of officials waited oil Yuan Shi Kai and protested against Dr. Morrison's appointment. They explained that only departmental experts were required, and that the country would not tolerate an alien being entrusted with the secrets of general and political affairs. Yuan Shi Kai reserved his reply, and it is expected that a compromise will be arranged New York, August 14. Advices fiom Tientsin state that Germany and .la pan are strongly opposing Dr. Morrison's appointment.
