ESCAPED PRISONERS.
TWO MEN AT LARGE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Two prisoners named Andrew Bergeson and George Paul, alias Herbert Bftrtlett, who are undergoing short sentences, escaped from the prison camp at Point Haiswell this afternoon. The former was working on the road gang, and the latter was carrying water from a tank connected with the cookhouse. Their departure was not witnessed bv anyone. Bcrgerson was serving six months for receiving stolen property and for breaking and entering and theft. He is 22 years old, and comes from Dannevirke. Paul is twenty years old, and hails from Foxton. Tie was serving a sentence of three months' imprisonment for breaking and entering and theft at Nelson. A special force of police is scathing the country in the vicinity of Point Halswell.
