HOCKEY.

THE LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. At a meeting of the N.Z. Ladies' hockey Association to-night, the secretary reported that the Auckland Association had five junior teams entered for the championship to be 'held this year, but the management committee considered that this would give undue advantage to Auckland, and it refused the entry. The committee offered to allow two senior and two junior teams to enter. As a result of the refusal Auckland asked to have the tournament withdrawn, and it was decided that Canterbury should run the tournament. Arrangements were well in hand. The meeting resolved to approve of the action of the executive. It was decided that the management be instructed not to accept more than two entries for either competition at a tournament from an association controlling the tournament or any other association.
