SLY-GROG SELLING. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dargavilld, Last Night. At the Magistrate's Court, Thomas Median, billiard saloon keeper at Tangowahine, a milling settlement on the Northern Wairoa, was fined £25 for slygrog selling. This is believed to be the first sly-grog case in the district.
THE TANIWHA. Auckland, Last Night. Information received by the local office of the Northern Steamship Co. this morning is to the effect that the divers are making satisfactory progress in the work of repairing the hole in the timbers of the steamer Taniwha, now lying sunk
in the I'aeroa river. The scupper holes and other air vents are being blocked, and it is intended to commence pumping out water from the holds to-night.
