NEW PLYMOUTH GAS CO.
ADJOURNED ANNUAL MEETING. The adjourned annual meeting of the New Plymouth Gas Co. was held jesterda.v. Mr. T. Furlong presided. The annual report and balance-sheet, a precis of which was published in yesterday's News were read and adopted, with the omission of the clause relating to the retiring directors. 'Die retiring directors (Messrs. E. Dockrill and A. M. Thomson) offered themselves for re-election. Three nominations were received for the positions, viz. Messrs. Ilealy, Dockrill and Thomson. A ballot resulted in Messrs. Dockrill and Thomson being elected. On the motion of Mr. Mills, seconded by Mr. Hardy, Messrs. J. -S. McKellar and J. C. Davies were re-elected auditors at the usual remuneration.
Mr. J. C. Davies moved, and it was resolved, "tluit this meeting of shareholders desires to place on record its appreciation of the valuable services of Mr. A. Shuttlewortli during the many years he was chairman of the directors of the company, and regret that failing health compelled his retirement from that position, and that this resolution bo added to tho -directors' report, and a copy of the same sent to him." The retiring directors were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for their services during the past year, and the usual remuneration was voted to them.
On the motion of Mr. Jennings, a vote of thanks was accorded the acting chairman (Mr. Furlong) for the able way in which he had handled the meeting, which was beset with many difficulties.
At a subsequent meeting t3ie directors re-elected Mr. E. Dockrill as chairman.
