Mr. P. Nathan, of Joseph Nathan aad Co., and Mrs. Nathan are visiting New Plymouth. A wireless message received from "Mr. A. Wilkinson states that he will be in Elthain on Thursday, the loth inst. A Brisbane cablegram states that the University has conferred upon the Hon. J. Brvce the honorary degree of Doctor of IjilWS.
Mr. 0. Carter will liVvc for Wellington to-morrow rooming to consult with S'ir Pieo. Gilford on various matters connected with the Tarannki (N.Z.) Oil Wells, Ltd.
Mr. John Craig MeKerrow, a wellknown resident of Wellingent, died in Wellington on Monday. For many years lie \yas a runholder in South Canterbury and carried on a land and estate business in Wellington. He also investigated old soldiers' claims on behalf of the Government.
At yesterday's meeting of the shareholders of the New Plymouth Gas Co., Mr. T. Furlong (who was in the chair) mentioned that Mr. C. E. Rennell was relinquishing the position of secretary. Oil the motion of Mr. Jennings, a resolution was carried regretting Mr. Rennell's retirement and expressing appreciation of his past services.
