Mr. John Craig MeKerrow, a wellknown resident of Wellingent, died in Wellington on Monday. For many years lie \yas a runholder in South Canterbury and carried on a land and estate business in Wellington. He also investigated old soldiers' claims on behalf of the Government.

At yesterday's meeting of the shareholders of the New Plymouth Gas Co., Mr. T. Furlong (who was in the chair) mentioned that Mr. C. E. Rennell was relinquishing the position of secretary. Oil the motion of Mr. Jennings, a resolution was carried regretting Mr. Rennell's retirement and expressing appreciation of his past services.
