London, August 9. Tho Australians are playing a two days' match against Durham at Sunderland. Gregory, Whitty, Matthews and Carkcek were omitted from the Australian team. The weather was threatening, but the wicket was good, and a start was made. Durham won the toss and batted, but after four balls had been sent down rain came on and there was an interval. The game was re-started, ,and then there was a further stoppage. At lunch time Durham had lost one 1 wicket for 18. The resumption of play [ was delayed by rain, but the game was re-started at 3.35. When stumps were drawn, Durham had lost eight wickets I for 13S. Adamson made 60.
