Received 11, 5.5 p.m. ' Sydney, August, lli A challenge has .been issued by the Wellington Drivers, jtfew Zealand champion tug-of-war team, to pull any Australasian team for £2OO aside. This has been accepted by Fitzpatrick, of Sydney, on behalf of a team of Australians. In the event of the New Zealanders proving victorious, probably further matches will be arranged, carrying large prize money.
CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP,
By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The New Zealand Harriers' five miles cross-country championship was run at Miramar yesterday, and resulted as follows:—J. Beatson (Otago), 1; G. A. McKnight (Otago), 2; D. Jack (Otago), 3. Otago won the teams championship, Auckland being second, and Wellington third.
