GOLF.
NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. To-day mixed fohrsomes arc to be played for prizes presented by Mr. D. K. Morrison and the club. Twenty-sis: couples have entered for this competition, and to avoid delay in .starting the match committee has decided that players may start at either the firat or sixth holes. On Thursday the third round for the Medley Cup was played and resulted as follows: A. (ioldwater 102 20 82 F. Honan 108 20 88 W. P. Nicoll 99 10 89 Two more rounds will probably complete tho competition for this tropny. On Tuesday last the final of the ladies' cham.pion.ship was played, and after a moslf exciting match was won by Miss Brewster, who finished 2 up on Miss Stephenson. When the 13th hole bad been played Miss Brewster was doimy 5, but a splendid recovery by her opponent reduced this lead to dormy one. However, the last hole wa.s won by Miss Brewster, and the championship for 1912 became 'hers. Miss Brewster is to be heartily congratulated on winning, and particularly so as'she is tho first member of the club who has been able to defeat Miss Stephenson in a championship match. Previously Misa Stephenson's well-known ability has enabled her to win on each occasion on which she has competed. ' 'Next Saturday the first of the two qualifying rounds for the men's championship will be played. Conditions as to entry, etc., will be posted in the club house to-day.
