POLITICAL NOTES.
IMMIGRATION. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) ' Wellington, Last Night. The annual report of the Under-Secre. tary for Lands on the immigration which has taken place into New Zealand durinir the year 1011-12 was kid before Parliament yesterday. The total number of arrivals was 12,250, including 2341 children. , The majority of these paid the ordinary fare. The number who were granted passages to the Dominion at reduced rates, and who embarked from the* United Kingdom, was 3300, consisting of 520 fanners and farm hands, 397 housewives rejoining their housands, and 102 ft domestic workers. The declared capital possessed by the assisted immigrants amounted to £24,088. The immigration oflicer expressed the opinion that the arrivals were of a good class, and that every domestic worker who arrives may have at least a dozen openings waiting for her. 6
