EMPIRE PICTURE PALACE. The large audience that assembled at the Empire Theatre last night to witness the current programme was much surprised at the magnificent brilliancy and steadiness of the filjns on tflie screen. One could almost imagine they were looking at the actual scenes in ibroad sunshine, so perfect was the illumination and projection. The reason oi this was that the new Wcstangihouse generating set imported by the Empire Company some time ago was brought into requisition for the first time. The pictures at this theatre in the past have always been splendid; in fact, one would think it almost impossible to improve .on them, but the results (last night were magnificent. Tho programme, which is ono of the best yet seen Jiei-e, was 'greatly appreciated and applause was frequent throughout. As on the ■ previous n'iafht, the ''Otter Study" came, in for most" intercet, and it is evident that more films of this class would always be welcomed. It is to be regretted that educational subjects, such as the one under review, are so rare and difficult to obtain. The dramatic films were watched with ■breathless interest, SeNg'-s animal drama "Saved by. Her Lions'' providing many thrills. Vitagrapn. Lubin and Kalem. Companies were all represented in this class. The comedies caused much merriment and kept the audience in a good humour throughout. The same programme will be repeated to-ndght for Una last time^
