TIIE AMERICAN OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. Received 4, 5.5 p.m. New York, August 4. MeDennott retained' the open golf championship of the United' States. THE VICTORIAN CHAMPIONSHIP. Melbourne, August 3. _ The _ Victorian Amateur Golf Championship foursomes were won by F. G. Murdxwk and C. E. Dodge. TARAIIUA CLUB. The final fotr the club match was played ; on Saturday afternoon, when Mrs. J,.G. list and L. Kind (97 —67 net) beat Mrs. Marks and R. Baily (103^ —75 net). One bogey match was also played, and it was- won by G. Grey, with four dawn. MEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. The monthly competition far <tihe St. Cross was played on Saturday, but owing to the weathen - being, as ha» been usual on Saturdays this year, .boisterous and unfavorable, the scores were decidedly poor. The Cross was won by A. H. Glasgow, 92—6—80, and the competition for those whose handicaps are over 12 by K. B. Bun with 111—18 —93. The following are the six best cards:— A. H.
