THE TERRITORIAL OATH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Nelson, Last Night. Mr. Evans, S.M., to-day dismissed an information against senior cadets for refusing to take the oath of allegiance, on the grounds that cadets are not part of > the Territorial force, and cannot be drafted directly to the force. They are not required to take the oath prescribed by the Act, nor are they liable to punishment for refusing to take the oath prescribed by the military regulations, which differs materially from the statutory oath, both in scope and obligations. FURTHER PROTESTS. Wanganni, Last Night. A meeting of junior cadet officers of the Second Battalion was held to-day to 1 discuss the prwent movement towards the derail itarism of school cadets. The opinion was freely expressed l that in the interests of discipline and of military training generally the step would be k decidedly backward one. A committee was formed to draw up a memorial to | the Minister of Education setting forth i reasons why junior cadets should remain on at present constituted. I
