A DRUNKARD'S DEATH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Westport, Last Night. At the inquest on Lionel Dorney, a fireman of the Taviuni, drowned in the Duller river on July 8, a verdict of accidentally drowned while intoxicated was returned. The coroner commented strongly on the practice of supplying liquor to drunk sailors. DEATH FROM HEART FAILURE. Westport, Last Night. At Karamea to-day a man named Hopkirk, a recent arrival, dropped down dead while at work at a sawmill. Deatli was due to heart disease. THE FATE OF THOSE OUT BACK. Rotorua, Last Night. A young Maori woman, living at TcI kalia. near Cape Runaway, forty-five' mlies from the nearest doctor, was ill for three months. A week ago she came to Rotorua for treatment, and was found to he suffering from peritonitis. An operation was necessary as the only chance of'recovery, but the patient succumbed under the anaesthetic. KILLED IN A CYCLE ACCIDENT. Wanganui, Last Night. Arthur Hobbs, aged 30, was killed, at Hawera to-night. ll© was riding a motor cycle, when he collided with a i trap, death being instantaneous. De- ' ceased was Hawera agent for Dalgetv and 00. \ A FRACTURED SKULL. ] Blenheim, Yesterday. S. Blake, who fractured his skull oil Tuesday night at Picton, died this morning. Braddock, who Jived with deceased, was arrested for drunkenness, but not in connection with Blake's injuries. ]
