TAFTS CAMPAIGN. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 2, 10.5 p.m. Washington, April 2. From now onwards the Presidential campaign will be in full iblast. President Taft. in a speech officially accepting the Republican nomination, frankly recognised the popular unrest, which he promised to satisfy. Ho urged" the necessity for legislation to secure for the poor equality of opportunity with the rich, and announced that his chief planks would 'be the integrity of the Constitution, the maintenance of business prosperity, and moderate scientific protection, as against the Democrats' proposed revenue tariff. ITe added that the Republicans, unlike the Democrats, have a normal constructive programme, which they are ready and able to carry out.
