A CURIOUS CASE. Received 31, 1.15 a.m. Melbourne, July 30. Frederick Layton, shop manager of Carlton, has been remandec* on bail for a week, charged with deserting his wife in New Zealand, pending the arrival of «n escort. Layton declared that he never had a wife or a family.
