The Privy Council has decided that the Dominion Bil! legalising a'J Canadian marriages solemnised by authorised clergymen under the laws of the provinces is ultra vires in Quebec. The Government's contention that such a Federal Bill is inapplicable to that province, inasmuch as the marriage laws are exclusively under provincial jurisdiction, is thu* sustained.
