It ia stated that the torpedo gunboats and some submarines will go to Alexandria, with the Orontes as a depot ship. CANADA'S CO-OPERATION. 25-KNOT ARMED MERCHANTMEN. Received 28, 5.5 p.m. London, July 27. The Times' Toronto correspondent states that Canada's naval offer includes four convertible armed 25-knot ships to be built for the Canadian-Pacific Railway Company, and two smaller but similar speed vessels now building for the Van-couver-Japanese service.

FRENCH-CANADIAN SUPPORT. Received 28, 5.5 p.m. Ottawa, July 27. Surprise has been caused by the change of front in the attitude'of La Patrie, the leading French-Canadian journal in Montreal, praising Mr. Borden, and declaring that the Canadian people are certain to approve of a policy of aiding Britain's navy, because Canada incontestably earns enormous benefits through her association with Britain. BRITAIN'S PROGRAMME. Received 29, 12.20 a.m. London, July 28. The Admiralty has invited tenders for six armored cruisers to be ready and commissioned in June, 1914, smaller but faster than the corresponding German vessels. Two others will be reserved for the Government dockyards.
