Wool. —At the wool sales merinos and best wools were strong at recent rates. Shabby crossbreds sold occasionally in buyers' favor. Silver, 27% d per ounce. AMERICAN WHEAT. London, July 24. The American visible wheat supply is 30,114,000 bushels. L. A. NOLAN & CO.'S REPORT. Poultry.—This week we have to report a large entry. High prices were realised throughout, there being a good demand for all classes of birds. Prices were as I under:—Hens (fat) Is lOd to 2s 4d, ! ordinary Is fid to Is 9d, pullets 3s 4d to os, cockerels 2s Id to 3s Gd, roosters Is fid to 3s Gd, ducks 2s 3d to 2s Od, turkey gobbler (is 9d, hens 4s, p.b. Minorca cockerel (is 9d, pullets ss, 'black Orpington cockerels us, silver Wyandottes ss. We disposed of a large; quantity of household furniture at prices satisfactory to vendors.
Fruit.—Largo supplies of apples have come to hand. The demand 'has been slack consequent on the inclement weather. We quote: Apples (Stunners) 8s (id to 9s, B grade 7s fid to Bs, Dohertys (A) 8s to 8s Oil, B (is 6d to 7s (id, Five Crown Pippins 7s to 7s Gd, oranges 12s, bananas (ripe) 3d per lb.
' WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT. Poultry.—At the mart on Saturday we had a fair entry of all classes. Prices showed a decided advance on the previous week's list. We have an unsatisfied demand for hens, ducks and fat cockerels. Prices as under:—'Hens (fat) Is Od to 2s 2d, young 2s to 2s lOd, pullets (young) 2,s Id to 2s !)d, forward 3s to 4s Cd, cockerels (young) Is 7d to 2s 3d, fat 2s to 3s 3d, p'.b. B.L. cockerels 7s 6d to 9s, white Leghorns 5s to 5s Od, turkey hens os 3d to Cs fid, gobblers 8s 3d t'o lis. The usual line of auction sundries sold at satisfactory rates. Fruit.—During the week this has come forward in fair quantities, Island oranges and bananas also arriving. Prices are on the upward grade and will continue so for the rest of the season. Prices attained as under (according to quality of fruit and size of cases):— Bananas (green) 12s to 13s, ripe 3d lb, orange* (originals) 9s 9d to 10s 3d, re-packs lis to 12s (id, lemons 12s Od to los Od, passions 5s to Os, apples (dessert) 7s Od to 9s Od, cookers 5s Od to Gs Od, .pears (dessert), Winter Coles 8s 2-llb box.
Furniture.—On Wednesday, on account of Mr. T. D. Lciteh, wo held a clearing sale of all his household furniture at his r"-idcnce in Leach street. There was a uiir attendance of the public, and each '.at submitted realised satisfactory prices.
LOCAL MARKETS. Butchers' Meat. Beef: Sirloin, 6d; prime ribs, fid; rump steak, 8d; beef, from 3d to Od; corned beef, 4d and sd! Mutton: Legs, 6d; chops, Od; loin, od; j shoulders, sd; necks, 3d. Veal, 3d to 3d | per lb. Sausages: Beef sd, pork 3d. Lambs: Legs, Od; forequarters, 4s 6d; hindquarters, 5s Cd. Pork: Fresh 7d and 8d per lb. Fowls, 5s to Os per pair; ducks, 6s per pair. Dripping, Od per lb. Theso prices are for cash only; y 2 d per lb for booking over one week. General groceries: Rolled oats lid bag; oatina, Is bag; oatmeal, 4s per 251b. bag; flour, roller, 1001b, lis 3d, 501b Os, 25lbs 3s 3d. Cereals, etc.—Oats, Gartons 3s 3d per bushel, Duns 3s 3d, crushed oats 3s 0d; barley, Cape 3s 6d bushel, English 4s Od bushel; crushed beans, 5s Od; pollard, 8s per 1001b.; fowl wheat, 4s 9d per bushel; maize, 6s per bushel. Dairy Produce, etc. —Butter: Factory (in rolls) Is 4d, dairy lid, best separator Is Id per lb.; cheese, 9d per lb.; eggs, Is od per doz.; eggs (Circle) Is 7d per doz.; abeon, rashers, Is per lb.; ham, lOd per lb; milk, 4d quart. Fruit.—Bananas, 4d lb; lemons, Is Gd and 2s per doz.; apples, 3d and 4d lb; figs, 4d box; oranges, Is and la Od per doz.; grapes,'ls Od and 2s per lb; mandarines, Is to Is 3d doz.; pears, 4d and Od lb; tomatoes, Gd lb.; passion fruit, 6d per doz. Vegetables—Cabbages 3d and 4d; carrots, 2d per bunch; turnips, 2d per bunch; potatoes, lOlbs for Is; parsnips, 2d bunch.
