STORMY WEATHER.
I . A| FALL OF SNOW. By Telegraph—Press Association. Masterton, Last Night. Very heavy rain has fallen here during the last twenty-four hours, causing the rivers to be swollen and the creeks flooded. A portion of the town was inundated with flood waters this aftersoon, and several shops in the main thoroughfare had to be closed. A number of slips have come down in the country districts, and several roads are blocked for traffic. Since the beginning of the month over ten inches of rain have fallen, which is a record for this part. In Mauriceville fifteen inches have been registered. Stock is likelv to suffer on account of the cold weather", but benefit will be conferred on settlers 'by the destruction of the grass grub and rabbits. Snow fell on the low-lying hills last nigjht. ' "
Dannevirke, Wednesday. Heavy snow fell yesterday afternoon and throughout the night at" Dannevirke and the surrounding districts, for the third occasion this winter. The rain speedily made it disappear. The weather is wintry.
Pahiatua. Wednesday. There was a light fall of snow at Pahiatua and the surrounding country yesterday afternoon, the third this winter. Pongaroa reports heavy rains. The rivers are in high flood'and it is still raining. Feilding. Wednesday. The Upper Kiwitea County last night experienced the heaviest fall of snow for many years. This morning at Kimbolton the snow was six inches deep. There have been very hcavv rains in all parts of the district. Rivers are high, but so far there has been no serious damage, except slips on the roads The land is saturated, but stock are wintering well, having had a good autumn. B
