Owing to the number of University footballers injured in the recent matches, the visit of a team to play the New Zealand Universities has been postponed until next year. WELLINGTON v. SOUTH ISLAND. Wellington, Last Night. The following Wellington Rugby football team has been selected to meet the South Island representatives at Athletic Park on Wednesday, July 31: —fullback, J. Ryan; three-quarters, Grace, Murray and Young; live-eighths, Ramaden and McKenzie; half, F. Roberts; forwards, Elliott, Hills, Moffatt, Gillespie, Wilson, McFarlane, R. Paton and J. Skinner.

TARANAKI v. SOUTH ISLAND. The South Island touring team, some twenty in number, under the management of Mr. T. Bain, arrived in New Plymouth by the s.s. Rarawa from Auckland yesterday morning. It was the intention of the team to have gone right through to Stratford, where they are to play the second match of their tour against Taranaki to-morrow, but at the-suggestion of the Taranaki Rugby j Union the team decided to stay overnight at New Plymouth and journey on |to Stratford by the midday train to-day. iOn arrival the members of the team [were met bv Messrs. McLeod (chairman) and Garcia, members of the management committee of the Taranaki ;Union. Despite the cold wind blowing a visit was paid in the morning to the Recreation Grounds, and in the afternoon to the oil field at Moturoa, which proved very interesting to the visitors. The South Island will be represented by the following team in their match .to-morrow:—■

Star first juniors will play Tukapa first" juniors on the Sports Ground tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. Tli» following are the teams:—Star: Harvey, Gleeson, James, Mason, Tunbridge, Lowe, 'Bullot, Clark, Crockett, James, Baxter, jMcGahey, Plumb, Page, and Johnstone. | Tukapa:—Julian, Morey, Tuohy, Stohr; Humphries, Loveridge, West, Martin, Spence, Steele, Brabant, McLachlan, McKoy, Wai Opai, Roebuck, and Wylie. I Mr. H. Petty has been appointed referee in the junior cup final between Clifton and Waimate, which is to be played at Eltham to-morrow, and Mr. IW. Roeh will officiate in the Star (v. Tukapa junior match for the Dan O'Brien shield, which will take place on [the Recreation Sports Ground. I A meeting of the management committee of the Taranaki Rugby Union will be held at Stratford to-morrow afternoon.
