SCULLING.
"A REAL GOOD CHANCE." ARNST DISCUSSES HIS PROSPECT'S. Mr. M. J. Sheahan, of Auckland, received a letter recently dated London, June 13, from "Dick" Arnst, the champion sculler of the world. The champion says: "You can rest assured I will not be far away when it comes to the finish of the race. lam certainly going to wear the silver fern, for it has always seen me home to victory. lam getting into real good form, and have only about fllbs to take off, and still six weeks to go, so I ought to be fit. I have worked hard since arriving in England, and have had beautiful weather, and it was no trouble to get the weight off. There is very little betting on the race, but in what there is I am favorite. [ did a satisfactory trial a week ago over a mile and three-quarters, and when properly wound up should have a real good chance. The climate suits me all right, and I like the river, although there is a fairly strong current, and it is a bit choppy at times. I intend returning home through America, so will call at Auckland. [ am at present trying to get a match with Durnan on my way through, and hope to be successful.''
