MOA ROAD BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Moa Road Boanl was held on Saturday. Present: Messrs. H. Trimble (chairman), A. Oorkill, A. Lawrence, M. Ifopson, J. Williams, Bishop, Bridgeman, Collingwood and Chard. THE RATE.
The chairman formally moved to strike a rate of 2-3 d in the £ on the capital value. He pointed out that the valuation had increased by £147,327, and. the rate would produce £2184. Last yeaT the %d rate produced £11)97. —The motion was carried. KING ROAD.
The chairman reported that the committee set up to interview Mr. C. Longstaff had re-considered the recommendation which they had presented at the last meeting. Mr. Longstaff 'had stated that if the Board would pay him £lO he would make passable that part of King road from Mr, 11. Bishop's entrance to the southern boundary of the section leased by him from the Taranaki County Council. The money need not be paid until the work had 'been, done to the satisfaction of the Board. They recommended that the offer be accepted.—The report was adopted. FOREMEN'S REPORTS.
Foreman Jones reported that during the past month his time had been taken up in patching Norfolk road, east and west, Rugby and Durham roads, and that the latter was breaking up very badly ,in places. After. repairing it he would be short of maintenance metal.
Foreman Knofflock reported that 34 yards of boulders liad been broken on the Suffolk road. Rowan - and Thompson had finished their Bristol road west contract. He required more stone at Hopsoil's. The road would require blinding,' metalling and .patching next month. Twenty posts were required'for the fence on Dudley road, near the saleyards. The drain there hud been trodden in and tilled up by cattle.- The road required about 500 yards' of metal. ' Foreman Bennett reported having repaired and filled in ruts on Kupara road, Kaimata road, Ratapiko road, Kohete road. He had put in pipes on the Motukawa road, and attended to general maintenance on Salisbury, Ross and . Mana roads.
G. Ward, manager of the Board's ,drain pipe factor}', reported that during the • month lie had- made twelve 3ft. pipes, thirteen 2ft. pipes, seven 18in. -pipes, and four 9in. pipes, The Board had no use for a quantity of second-c.lass Oin. pipes offered at a low price v 'by a Wellington firm. .
