FARMERS' UNION

THE SOUTH CANTERBURY BRANCH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. The executive of the South Canterbury Farmers' Union yesterday discussed the accident insurance of farm employees. The present arrangements are considered unsatisfactory. The delegates to the New Zealand conference were instructed to support the. State making provision; also to bring up the undesirableness of the present law requiring immigrants to possess a certain amount of ready money (single men £lO and a man with a family £ls), as this must prevent many suitable men coming to the country. The executive is maturing a plan to bring out domestic servants to North Canterbury. Arrangements ?.re being made for a meeting of farmers on August 24 to confer with Oneral Godley as to the most suitable time for camps, as affecting farm industries.
