Eight torpedo boats entered the Dardanelles in the fog and darkness, and crept to within two miles of Nagara, where the Turkish warships were lying. Turkish accounts allege that the 'forts sank two and damaged the remainder. A SCENE ON 'CHANGE. New York, July 10. Tt is scmi-officially announced that owing to a report, that the Turks intended to surprise the Aegean, Italian torpedoers. either pursuing the Turks or reconnoitring. dashed with admirable daring and in peifeet order twenty kilometres up the Dardanelles. They were detected b\ searchlights and subjected to a heavy ; cross-fire from the forts on either side and also by riiles. .They advanced until they discovered the Turkish licet anchored bill, fully prepared. They were pi otected by a steel cable obstruction, and consequently were not attacked, and the torpedoers retired undamaged.
