Englishwomen, have been committed for trial in Dublin for conspiring to cause grievous bodily barm and doing malicious damage. Evidence showed that but for the action of men at the theatre it would have been burnt., and manv fatalities might have occurred. The attendants found a casket full of fire-lighters well alight and the carpet saturated with petro'. An alarming explosion occurred. Several suffragette'*, have left England for Dublin, where they arc being closely watched. Leigh admit- throwing the axe at Mr. Asquith. O'Brien, the chief marshal, tried to prevent her. but she fought him and tore his epaulettes off. Evans was captured while trying to fire a cinematograph box at the Theatre Royal when the house was emptying. She put a handbag of gunpowder into the box. and attempted to throw lighted matches into it. The carpet was saturated with petrol, which flamed up and exploded. Two soldiers extinguished the fire.
Another woman, apparently not arrested. in a private box. set the curtains afire after saturating them with petrol. At the defendants' lodgings the police found rubber gloves, a small quantity of oil and matches. Capper joined the other three shortly after their arrest, and offered bail. DISTURBING A MEETING. INFURIATED IRISHMEN. I.'ni 'on, July 20. At the Home Rule meeting the suffragettes attempted a parade, but were met with cries of "Hatchet! ' and "Gunpowder!" Tli" -uffregettrs replied: "What about n.n shooting landlords?" The crowd was so that the suffragettes wore compelled to take refuge in the post office whose windows they recently STe-h-d.
