THE THEFT OF SOULTORIA. Auckland, Last Night. At the Tiikokohe Magistrate's Court to-day Patrick McManamin was charged with having stolen the well-known racing mare Soultoria, valued at £IOOO, the property of the trustees of the estate of the late Jas. Roulston. Evidence for the prosecution was heard at length, and accused, who pleaded not guilty and reserved his defence, was committed for trial. Bail was allowed in two sureties of £IOO each, and accused's own recognisance of £2OO. TOTALISATOR LICENSES. Wellington, Last Night. The Minister for Internal Affairs (the Hon. 11. D. Bel!) has finally decided the question of totalisator licenses. For the year ending August 1, 1913, the number of days on which the totalisator may be used is fixed by statute at 250. Those days will be allotted to the same racing and trotting clubs as held licenses during the present year, for the same months and meetings, except that the Rangitikei Club will be allowed two days, one of which will be taken from the Marton Club and one from the Canterbury i Jockey Club, C.J.C. MEETING. Christcluirch, Thursday. The Christchurch Jockey Club lias postponed the closing of general entries and acceptances for the Grand National meeting till noon on Monday, owing to the interruption of communications.
At the Canterbury Park meeting yesterday the Canterbury Park Hurdle Race resulted:—Berale 1, Don Quex 2, Skean 3. Won by twelve lengths.
