The House carried an amended resolution placing an outside limit, excepting a few specialised instance.?, of 05 minutes on members' speeches, and not allowing more than two speeches of twenty minutes each en one question in committee. THE TRUST QUESTION. Melbourne, July 18. The Federal Government is enquiring into its powers of dealing with the American Beef Trust. Mr. Fisher stated that the Cabinet was aware of the operations of certain trusts, and is determined to protect legitimate industry. SOUTH AUSTRALIA. THE SPEECH FROM THE TIIRONE. Received 18. 11.45 p.m. Adelaide, July 18. The Government has opened Parliament. The Speech from the Throne indicates that there will be no fresh taxation. The opening of the Federal Savings Bank is characterised as an impudent attack on the States' savings banks. Legislation will be introduced to counter this. Railway extension in various directions is promised.
