THE TIMARU-CHRISTCHURCH ROAD RACE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. At a meeting of the North Canterbury centre of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union last evening it was reported that the committee had already collected upwards of £2OO towards the prize fund for this year's Timaru to Christchurch road race, which has been j set down for September 12, whilst judging from further promises made it was thought that the prize fund would reach £3OO by Wednesday next, when the collecting lists will finally close. It was resolved that the race should be handicapped conjointly by the North and South Canterbury handicappers, and that entries should close on August 24. | ROVERS CYCLE CLUB HANDICAP. The following handicaps have been declared for the Inglewood' road race of thirty miles, to be held on Thursday afternoon under the auspices of the Rovers Cycle Club, starting from Crocker's corner at 2.30 o'clock: R. Cock scr., A. White scr., J. Cross scr., L. Smith scr., R. Renner *2min., R. Bell 2min., R. Lapp 6min., H. Lobb 6min., D, James 7min., J. Guilford 7min., V. Gunson 7min., W. Gunson 7min., A. May lOmin., H. McGahey lOmin., IT. Jury lOrnin. The race will finish at the Red House Hotel corner.
